In CATAN – On the Road, gameplay is driven by a deck of 120 cards and builds on well-known CATAN mechanics with a fresh variation. Players gather resources by drawing cards, construct developments from a common set of available choices, and negotiate trades either with the bank or with fellow players. Trading plays an even larger role in this version: any player who trades while it is not their turn is rewarded with an extra resource card.

"This was my first experience dealing with the Catan franchise at all and I found it to be a very good introduction to the base concepts present within the actual game. It is also very quick, which helped with learning in my opinion, as I prefer to learn the basics over several games which is less practical with the full Catan game. Would recommend if you would like a faster and more simplistic version of Catan to play with your friends."
